After having presented you the Cayman GT4, we wanted to continue in this "Porsche" lineage and to talk to you about a less race-like model (but only in appearance).

Today we are in the presence of a 911 type 997, the generation marking the 50 years of the 911.

To put it in context, the previous generation, the 996, did not make everyone happy... The performances were certainly there as always with Porsche, but the purists did not approve the end of the "round" headlights which are neither more nor less than THE signature of the 911... Personally, I don't find it so bad!

After this little "failure" with the lovers of the brand, the 997 appeared in 2004 letting appear two beautiful round headlights and selling more than 100.000 units (a record for the brand).

A few versions of this 6th generation have been released, but it would take a long time to list them all, so we will focus on one model in particular: the 997 Turbo S.

To illustrate the article, we have chosen the Porsche of the garage LJMOTORSPORT exposed at the GDD of Beaucroissant 2022 by Stan, thanks to them :).

Really beautiful in this livery, don't you think?

The Turbo, as its name suggests, abandons the naturally aspirated engine in favor of a turbocharged engine. Not one but two turbos are housed under the hood!

Two versions of the 997 Turbo have been released, in this article it's the phase 2 (2008) that we're talking about, a small restyling of the phase 1 with some minor alterations (LED lights in particular with a new light signature for the indicators and the front and rear lights and shields).

This look! It's hard not to fall for her charm!

Aesthetically, it is a marvel, a very sporty look, a pure line, body elements playing on aerodynamics and engine cooling are the distinctive signs of the Turbo.

A real bomb! And on the performance side, Porsche is getting closer to the Supercar category with its 911.

The car that Stan showed us and that he presented on his Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lMsFAKzCZI) is a Turbo S.

A real cosy nest to go on the Nurburgring :)

The original differences between the Turbo and Turbo S include RS Spyder wheels, adaptive directional headlights, adaptive sports seats, two-tone leather, paddle shifters. More driving comfort and more ponies under the hood. To buy the Turbo S, you had to pay 24,000 euros more.

Its rims are superb and make the calipers stand out wonderfully.

To propel these 1.6t, the engineers of Stuttgart have changed the famous Metzger of the GT1 from 3.6 to 3.8 L to be able to go from 420 to 480 hp on the Turbo and go up to 530 hp at 6750 rpm with 700 Nm of torque for the Turbo S.

Enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 3.3s and push the monster to 315 km/h! The 1000m from a standing start is achieved in 21s!

At Porsche, braking is never a problem: on the Turbo S, carbon-ceramic discs of 380mm at the front and 350mm at the rear are used, which allow the car to go from 100 to 0 km/h in 33.8m.

This rocket is amazing! On the Nürburgring North Loop, a time of 7'34"00 was set with an average speed of 163.3 km/h with road tires.

A reworked engine, which doesn't run out of steam and just wants to get up to speed and consumes less fuel than its predecessor.

The 7-speed PDK gearbox and dual clutch allow for faster and smoother gear changes, ideal for track driving. This gearbox also has the advantage of offering Launch Control to the driver.

As you can see, this is a superb car, both aesthetically and in terms of performance, a 911!

Thanks to Stan and LJMOTORSPORT for showing us this beautiful car!

Hugo Cortes.
